Hawai`i Island Paddlesports Association (H.I.P.A.) is the solo and duo Paddlesports Association for the Island of Hawai`i. This includes solo and duo outrigger canoes (OC-1 / OC-2), Solo and Duo Surfski/Kayaks and paddleboards. Our season runs January thru May with 10 regular season races and a championship race as well as various off-season and pre-season events.

2008 will be our 10th season after breaking off from Kanaka I Kai Ka (the O`ahu association). We have over 200 active members from all adult age groups and a growing youth program. H.I.P.A. in partnership with the State Department of Land and Natural Resources completed a first-of-its-kind dedicated OC-1 storage facility at Honokohau harbor along with a Halau where we can have post-race lunches and from where we run some of our West-Hawai`i events.

For more information on H.I.P.A.  OC-1 Storage facility and Halau at Honokohau Harbor in Kona call Sue LaLanne at Polynesian Paddling Products 329-3100
