HIPA Keauhou Canoe Club Race

Course] [Short Course]
There was a great turnout
today (Saturday) for Keauhou Canoe Club's 8th Annual OC-1, OC-2 and
Surfski Race. Held in calm waters in hot, sunny conditions, the OC-2
challenges were hotly contested in both the long and short courses.
Keauhou Bay welcomed paddlers from around the State including the Napoleon
Ohana from Oahu, as well an international contingent, including one
gentleman from the Czech Republic, and two wahine paddlers from Stockholm,
Sweden, who won the OC-2 Women's event on the short course.
The long course was won by the undefeated team of Lambert Lee Loy and
Ken Powell, coaches at Keauhou Canoe Club. Ken just returned from the
World Sprint Championship races in Bora Bora where he helped steer the
World Champions from Hawaii in the Double Hull (OC-12) Open Men division,
as well as the OC-12 Masters Men winners of the bronze medals.
Another participant today was also on the Gold Medal OC-12 Open Crew
in Bora Bora - Scott Jones, of Puna Canoe Club, who won the OC-2 Mixed
division on the long course today with Cherisse Kelii.
